Job Summary
The Lead Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the company's full accounting function across multiple outlets, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with regulatory standards. The role plays a critical part in driving financial discipline and supporting the successful implementation and optimization of the ERP system.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing multi-location accounting operations within a fast-paced FMCG or distribution environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Controls
- Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reports across all outlets
- Maintain strong internal control systems and enforce accounting policies
- Reconcile inter-branch transactions and ensure financial integrity
ERP Implementation & Optimization
- Support ERP implementation across finance and accounting modules
- Participate in system testing, data migration, and process mapping
- Ensure proper integration of financial processes into the ERP system
- Train and support finance staff on ERP usage and best practices
Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes
- Provide insights to management on financial performance and cost optimization
- Monitor cash flow and working capital across all outlets
Compliance & Audit
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and statutory requirements
- Coordinate external audits and implement audit recommendations
- Maintain up-to-date financial records in line with regulatory standards
Team & Stakeholder Management
- Supervise and support accounting staff across multiple locations
- Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to ensure financial alignment
- Provide management with actionable financial insights for decision-making
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is highly required
- Minimum of 5–8 years relevant accounting experience, preferably in FMCG, distribution, or multi-branch operations
- Strong experience with ERP systems (implementation or usage experience is an advantage)
- Solid knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and financial regulations
- Strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and strong integrity
- Ability to manage multiple outlets and work in a fast-paced environment
