Role Summary
The Managing Director will be responsible for providing overall strategic, operational, and financial leadership for the organization.
The successful candidate will drive business growth, oversee corporate performance, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and ensure the achievement of organizational objectives while maintaining the highest standards of governance, compliance, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Corporate Management
- Develop and execute business strategies aligned with the organization's long-term vision and growth objectives.
- Provide leadership across all business functions to ensure operational efficiency and sustainable profitability.
- Drive corporate planning initiatives and ensure effective implementation of approved business strategies.
- Provide strategic recommendations and insights to executive leadership and the Board.
Business Growth & Commercial Development
- Lead initiatives focused on revenue growth, customer acquisition, market expansion, and profitability.
- Identify new business opportunities, strategic partnerships, and diversification initiatives.
- Oversee sales, marketing, and business development activities to strengthen market presence.
- Drive innovation and service improvement initiatives that enhance competitiveness and customer value.
Financial Leadership
- Provide oversight of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and investment activities.
- Monitor financial performance and ensure alignment with approved business targets.
- Evaluate business opportunities through financial analysis and commercial assessments.
- Ensure efficient utilization of organizational resources to maximize returns and profitability.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee day-to-day operations across all functional areas of the business
- Ensure operational processes support efficiency, service delivery excellence, and business objectives.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives and operational best practices.
- Monitor health, safety, security, and risk management standards across the organization.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, statutory, and corporate governance requirements.
- Maintain strong internal controls, risk management practices, and policy implementation.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting business operations and provide strategic guidance accordingly.
Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, government agencies, financial institutions, industry associations, customers, and strategic partners.
- Represent the organization in high-level business engagements, industry forums, and stakeholder meetings.
- Strengthen the company's reputation and market positioning through effective stakeholder engagement.
Performance Management & Talent Development
- Establish performance management frameworks and monitor achievement of organizational goals.
- Lead, mentor, and develop senior management teams to drive business success.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and high performance.
- Support succession planning, leadership development, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Reporting & Executive Communication
- Provide timely and accurate operational, financial, and strategic reports to executive leadership and the Board.
- Communicate key business risks, opportunities, performance trends, and strategic recommendations.
- Ensure informed decision-making through robust reporting and business intelligence.

Requirements
Educational Qualification
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related discipline.
- Relevant professional certifications will be an added advantage.
Professional Membership
- Membership of a recognized supply chain management professional body is required
Experience
- Minimum of 12 years' post-qualification experience.
- At least 7 years' experience in a senior leadership or executive management role.
- Proven experience within Maritime Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, or related sectors is highly desirable.
