Role Summary
The DFI Funding Manager leads the identification, structuring, and execution of funding opportunities from DFIs, multilateral institutions, export‑credit agencies, and impact‑investment partners. The role requires strong corporate‑finance capability, deep understanding of development‑finance instruments, and proven experience managing complex funding transactions. The position supports the company's expansion projects, sustainability initiatives, and long‑term financing strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end‑to‑end process of sourcing, structuring, and securing funding from DFIs, multilateral agencies, impact investors, and blended‑finance partners.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with institutions such as IFC, AfDB, Afreximbank, Proparco, DEG, FMO, and other global development‑finance bodies.
- Identify funding windows for capital expansion, sustainability projects, energy transition initiatives, and supply‑chain development.
- Prepare investment proposals, financial models, project documentation, and due‑diligence materials required by funding partners.
- Lead negotiations on financing terms, covenants, pricing, and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate internal stakeholders—finance, legal, operations, sustainability, engineering—to ensure alignment on project requirements and reporting obligations.
- Monitor global development‑finance trends, concessional‑funding opportunities, and impact‑investment ppriorities relevant to manufacturing and agribusiness.
- Manage post‑funding obligations including reporting, compliance, ESG disclosures, and performance monitoring.
- Support the corporate‑finance team in capital‑structure planning, debt optimization, and long‑term financing strategy.
- Represent the company at investor meetings, DFI forums, and industry events to strengthen visibility and partnership opportunities.
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or a related field.
- Masters degree (MBA, MSc Finance) is an advantage.
- Minimum of 8 years experience in corporate finance, investment banking, project finance, or impact‑investment roles.
- Demonstrated track record of securing funding from DFIs or multilateral agencies.
- Professional certifications (CFA, ACCA, FMVA) are an added advantage.
- Strong expertise in corporate finance, project finance, and investment‑banking principles.
- Deep understanding of DFI funding instruments, including senior debt, mezzanine financing, blended finance, guarantees, and sustainability‑linked facilities.
- Proven experience managing funding transactions with DFIs, multilaterals, and impact investors.
- Strong financial‑modelling capability and ability to evaluate project viability.
- Strong understanding of ESG frameworks, sustainability reporting, and impact‑measurement requirements.
- Ability to manage complex due‑diligence processes and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
