ABOUT THE ROLE – ACCOUNTANT
The Accountant will support the banks financial operations by maintaining accurate records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal accounting standards. The role requires hands-on experience within a microfinance or financial services environment and the ability to support audits, reconciliations, and statutory reporting effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate accounting records and general ledger postings.
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements.
- Handle statutory remittances including PAYE, VAT, WHT, and pensions.
- Support regulatory reporting in line with CBN guidelines.
- Perform daily and monthly bank and account reconciliations.
- Support internal and external audit processes.
- Maintain proper financial documentation and controls.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
- BSc/HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 2–5 years relevant accounting experience in a microfinance bank or financial institution.
- ICAN (ACA) certification required or newly chartered.
- Working knowledge of core banking systems (e.g., Bank-One).
- Strong understanding of regulatory reporting and compliance requirements.
- High attention to detail and integrity.
