As part of its growing projects team, the organization is seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to support cost planning, contract administration, and financial control across construction and infrastructure projects.
Role Summary
The Quantity Surveyor will play a critical role in supporting the planning, costing, and financial management of waste management projects and infrastructure developments. This position is responsible for preparing cost estimates, managing budgets, evaluating material and equipment requirements, and ensuring cost‑effective delivery of operational and capital projects across the organization’s waste collection, processing, recycling, and facility‑development activities.
The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with engineering, operations, procurement, and project management teams. The Quantity Surveyor will also support contract administration, vendor evaluation, and cost control measures to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, sustainably, and in alignment with regulatory and environmental standards.
This position is essential to optimizing resource utilization, improving financial performance, and supporting the organization’s mission of delivering safe, compliant, and sustainable waste management solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Planning & Estimation
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities, and project budgets.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses for proposed projects.
- Develop cost plans and monitor expenditure throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide cost advice to support project planning and decision-making.
Contract Administration
- Prepare tender documents, contracts, and procurement schedules.
- Evaluate contractor quotations and support the selection process.
- Administer contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Assess and certify interim valuations, variations, and final accounts.
Cost Control & Financial Management
- Monitor project costs and identify potential cost overruns.
- Prepare regular cost reports and financial forecasts.
- Recommend cost-saving initiatives without compromising project quality.
- Ensure proper documentation of all project-related financial transactions.
Project Monitoring
- Conduct site visits to verify project progress and completed work.
- Measure and value completed works for payment purposes.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, contractors, and project teams to ensure effective project delivery.
- Support project close-out activities and final account reconciliation.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure adherence to procurement policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and records.
- Prepare periodic reports on project costs, risks, and financial performance.
- Support internal and external audit requirements where necessary.
Requirements
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
Professional Qualification
- Membership of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) or the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN) is an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in quantity surveying, cost management, or construction project administration.
- Experience managing infrastructure, civil engineering, or building projects is highly desirable.
