Role Overview

We are seeking a Business Development Manager who will play a pivotal role in driving new business opportunities, strengthening client relationships, and ensuring commercial engagements are executed with professionalism and technical competence. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for presenting the business capabilities confidently to clients, identifying and securing new contracts, and ensuring that tenders and proposals are completed accurately and on time.

This role is critical to not just retention of current accounts but also expansion into new business areas, addressing gaps that have impacted growth and performance over the past decade.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead business development efforts to secure new contracts and expand beyond existing key accounts. 
  • Prepare and deliver professional, confident, and technically sound presentations to clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, industry partners, and stakeholders to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities.
  • Coordinate with management and technical teams to ensure tenders, bids, and proposals are completed accurately, professionally, and within deadlines.
  • Monitor and analyze industry trends, competitor activities, and client needs to provide strategic insights and recommendations.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and client meetings, ensuring a strong and professional brand presence.
  • Report regularly to the General Manager on business development progress, challenges, and opportunities.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline (Master’s degree is an advantage).
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years in business development, commercial, or client-facing roles within the oil & gas, energy, or related sectors.
  • Strong technical background with the ability to handle HSE-related and technical client queries confidently.
  • Proven ability to secure new business contracts, with a track record of building long-term client relationships.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with confidence in addressing senior stakeholders and large audiences.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and proposal/tender preparation skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently between Lagos and Port Harcourt, and other client locations as required.
  • A proactive, self-motivated attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
