Job Summary

The Orthopedic Surgeon leads expert surgical and non‑surgical care for patients with musculoskeletal injuries, deformities, and disorders. The role involves diagnosing conditions, performing complex orthopedic procedures, and overseeing comprehensive pre‑ and post‑operative management to ensure optimal recovery.


The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver evidence‑based, patient‑centered care while advancing quality, safety, and innovation within orthopedic services.


Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage musculoskeletal injuries, deformities, and disorders through clinical evaluation, imaging interpretation, and diagnostic testing.
  • Perform a wide range of orthopedic surgical procedures, including trauma, joint reconstruction, arthroscopy, and corrective surgeries.
  • Provide comprehensive pre‑operative planning and post‑operative care to ensure safe recovery and optimal functional outcomes.
  • Collaborate with anesthesiologists, physiotherapists, radiologists, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated patient care.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans that may include surgical and non‑surgical interventions such as casting, bracing, and rehabilitation.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation, operative notes, and patient records in compliance with clinical and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, infection control practices, and adherence to surgical safety protocols.
  • Stay current with advancements in orthopedic techniques, technologies, and evidence‑based practices to enhance service delivery.


Qualification Requirements

  • MBBS degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Full registration and current practicing license with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
  • Successful attainment of a recognized specialist fellowship, such as; FWACS (Orthopaedics); FMCS (Orthopaedics)
  • Demonstrated competence in trauma care, joint reconstruction, arthroscopy, and other core orthopedic surgical procedures.
