Job Summary

The Consultant Pediatric/Neonatal Intensivist leads the provision of specialized critical care for critically ill newborns, infants, and children, delivering advanced life‑support, diagnostic evaluation, and intensive monitoring in high‑acuity settings.


The role leads multidisciplinary care & innovative strategies within the NICU/PICU, ensuring evidence‑based interventions, rapid clinical decision‑making, and seamless coordination across teams.


The Specialist drives quality, safety, and innovation in pediatric and neonatal critical care while supporting families through complex medical situations, not neglecting the organization set objectives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced critical care management for critically ill newborns, infants, and children in the NICU/PICU, including ventilatory support and life‑saving interventions.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and continuous monitoring to guide timely clinical decision‑making.
  • Lead multidisciplinary rounds and coordinate care with neonatologists, pediatricians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other specialists.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence‑based protocols and evolving patient needs.
  • Perform and supervise specialized procedures such as intubation, central line placement, exchange transfusion, and resuscitation.
  • Ensure strict adherence to patient safety standards, infection control practices, and quality improvement initiatives within the unit.
  • Communicate effectively with families, providing guidance, counseling, and support during complex and emotionally challenging situations.
  • Participate in ongoing research, training, and professional development to advance neonatal and pediatric critical care practices.


Qualification Requirements

  • MBBS degree from an accredited medical school.
  • FWACP (Pediatrics); FMCPaed or its equivalent is compulsory
  • Minimum of 3 years post‑fellowship experience
  • NRP certification is mandatory
  • Demonstrated expertise managing high‑acuity neonatal and pediatric emergencies, including ventilation, hemodynamic support, and advanced life‑support interventions.
  • Proven experience performing and supervising specialized critical‑care procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, umbilical catheterization, and resuscitation.
  • Prior leadership experience in a multidisciplinary critical‑care environment, including leading rounds, coordinating care, and mentoring junior clinicians.
  • Strong background in evidence‑based practice, quality improvement initiatives, and adherence to critical‑care safety protocols.
  • Experience working with advanced monitoring systems, neonatal ventilators, and critical‑care technologies.
  • Participation in research, teaching, or clinical audits within pediatric or neonatal intensive care is an added advantage.
  • Exposure to family‑centered care, including counseling and supporting families during complex and emotionally challenging clinical situations.
