Job Description:

Position Title: Commercial Driver

Department: Supply Chain & Plant Operations

Reports To: Logistics Officer / Plant Operations Manager

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Employment Type: Full-time

About the Company
We are a technology-enabled B2B SaaS and climate-tech company operating at the intersection of waste management, sustainable agriculture, and circular bio-refining. By leveraging automation, real-time monitoring, and sustainable bio-processing, we convert organic waste streams into high-value agricultural inputs—creating measurable environmental and economic impact across Africa.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, safety-conscious, and dependable Commercial Driver to power our circular logistics network. In this frontline role, you will be directly responsible for the safe, hygienic, and timely transportation of two critical material streams:

Upstream Feedstock Collection
: Transporting bulk organic waste (brewery spent grains, market waste, food processing by-products) from corporate FMCG partners, processing plants, and market hubs to our bio-refining facilities.

Downstream Finished Product Delivery
: Delivering bio-manufactured products (insect protein meal, insect oil, and organic frass fertilizer) to commercial feed millers, poultry/aquaculture farms, and agricultural distributors.

You will play a vital role in keeping our bio-refining plants consistently supplied with raw inputs while providing professional, customer-focused delivery services to our commercial off-take partners.

Key Responsibilities
Waste Feedstock Collection & Inbound Supply

  • Drive designated commercial vehicles (light trucks, tip trucks, or covered box trucks) to collection sites, FMCG processing plants, municipal hubs, and commercial markets across the region.
  • Ensure organic waste feedstocks are securely loaded, covered, and transported without spills, odors, or environmental contamination in transit.
  • Verify waste weights and tonnages at origin weighbridges, ensuring accurate completion of collection logs, manifests, and waybills.

Product Delivery & Customer Service

  • Transport finished bio-products (bagged insect meal, drummed insect oil, and organic fertilizer) to commercial feed mills, farm estates, and agricultural distributors.
  • Obtain signed Proof-of-Delivery (POD) notes, store receipts, and customer sign-offs upon successful offloading.
  • Represent the company professionally on customer sites, serving as a polite, dependable, and solution-oriented brand ambassador.

Vehicle Maintenance, Safety & Biosecurity

  • Perform routine daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (checking engine oil, tire pressure, brakes, coolant, lights, and load-securing gear).
  • Report vehicle faults, mechanical issues, or routine service needs promptly to the Logistics Officer to minimize operational downtime.
  • Maintain clean, sanitized vehicle interiors and cargo bays—strictly following biosecurity and hygiene washdown protocols when transitioning between raw organic waste handling and finished feed product deliveries.
  • Strictly comply with national and state traffic regulations (FRSC, LASTMA, VIO) and maintain safe driving standards across varying road and weather conditions.

Route Optimization & Digital Logging

  • Follow assigned collection and delivery routes optimized for fuel efficiency, vehicle safety, and on-time performance.
  • Utilize mobile apps and smartphones to log trip start/end times, mileage, fuel purchases, digital waybills, and real-time route incidents.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • On-Time Performance: High rate of on-time arrival for feedstock pickups and customer product deliveries.
  • Safety & Compliance Record: Zero preventable road traffic accidents, LASTMA/FRSC traffic violations, or material spillage incidents in transit.
  • Vehicle Maintenance & Uptime: Timely execution of routine vehicle inspections and zero mechanical damage caused by driver negligence.
  • Logistical Accuracy: 100% complete, error-free submission of waybills, receipts, fuel logs, and Proof-of-Delivery (POD) records.
