Position Overview
We are seeking an analytical, detail-oriented, and tech-savvy Accountant to manage financial operations across our dual-revenue streams: hardware/bio-manufacturing (feedstock, BSF protein/fertilizer production, and processing costs) and software (B2B SaaS subscription billing for ESG platforms). In this role, you will oversee full-cycle accounting, cost accounting for bio-refining operations, SaaS revenue recognition, tax compliance, financial reporting, and the seamless integration of financial data with our digital operations platform.

Key Responsibilities
Bio-Manufacturing Cost Accounting & Inventory Control

  • Establish and maintain cost accounting frameworks across bio-refining operations, tracking cost-per-ton metrics for waste processing and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) for BSF meal, oil, and frass fertilizer product lines.
  • Conduct regular valuation, reconciliation, and audit of raw materials (organic waste feedstocks), work-in-progress (BSF larvae biomass/colonies), and finished goods inventory.
  • Track facility utility consumption, automation equipment depreciation, energy usage, and logistics expenditures to monitor unit economics and operational gross margins.

SaaS Revenue Accounting & Billing Management

  • Oversee billing, invoicing, and revenue recognition in compliance with IFRS 15 for B2B SaaS platform subscriptions and real-time ESG data services.
  • Track key recurring revenue metrics, including Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR), Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR), invoicing schedules, and deferred revenue accounts.
  • Manage Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) workflows across commercial off-take partners, waste feedstock suppliers, technology vendors, and utility providers.

Financial Reporting & General Ledger Oversight

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement) in full compliance with IFRS and local reporting standards.
  • Perform end-of-month bank reconciliations, inventory adjustments, ledger postings, and inter-company transactions.
  • Conduct variance analyses (budget vs. actuals) across capital expenditure (CapEx) for plant machinery and operating expenditure (OpEx) for tech infrastructure and supply chain operations.

Statutory Tax Compliance & ESG Finance

  • Ensure strict adherence to Nigerian tax regulations (CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE) and industrial levies through accurate, timely filings with the FIRS and LIRS.
  • Coordinate annual external audits, statutory tax reviews, and regulatory financial examinations.
  • Account for climate finance, carbon credit revenue, and donor grants, ensuring compliance with restricted/unrestricted fund accounting standards.

Treasury, Payroll & Cash Flow Operations

  • Oversee monthly payroll processing, pension remittances, NHF, and other statutory deductions for corporate and facility personnel.
  • Monitor daily treasury positions, manage working capital, and optimize multi-currency (NGN/FX) operational cash flows.

Requirements & Qualifications
Education & Professional Certifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Professional Certification: ACA (ICAN) or ACCA qualification is required (or in advanced stages of completion).
Experience & Technical Competencies
  • Experience: 3–6 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally blending cost accounting in manufacturing/agribusiness with recurring revenue accounting in SaaS or B2B tech platforms.
  • Accounting Standards: In-depth knowledge of IFRS, cost accounting, inventory valuation methodologies, and IFRS 15 SaaS revenue recognition.
  • Software Proficiency: Advanced command of enterprise ERPs and cloud accounting tools (e.g., Odoo, NetSuite, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or SAP) alongside advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Practical expertise in Nigerian tax laws, FIRS portal administration, statutory reporting, and tax filing procedures.
Core Attributes & Fit
  • High level of integrity, professional ethics, and rigorous attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical capabilities to bridge complex manufacturing costs and SaaS revenue data into executive insights.
  • Ability to adapt and perform effectively in a fast-paced, technology-driven climate-tech startup environment.
