Role Overview
The Team Lead, Oil & Gas Sales is responsible for driving business growth within the Oil & Gas sector through strategic client acquisition, portfolio management, relationship development, and team leadership.
The role focuses on developing and implementing sales strategies that deliver sustainable revenue growth while providing tailored insurance solutions to clients operating across the upstream, midstream, and downstream segments of the industry.
The successful candidate will lead a team of sales and marketing professionals, strengthen existing client relationships, identify emerging opportunities within the sector, and ensure the achievement of assigned business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales Leadership
- Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies for the Oil & Gas sector.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across upstream, midstream, and downstream markets.
- Drive premium income growth through acquisition of new clients and expansion of existing accounts.
- Lead and coordinate sales activities to ensure achievement of assigned revenue and production targets.
- Develop sector-specific business plans and market penetration strategies.
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers within Oil & Gas companies.
- Manage strategic accounts and ensure high levels of client retention.
- Conduct regular client engagement meetings to understand evolving business and insurance needs.
- Ensure timely resolution of client concerns and service-related issues.
Portfolio & Risk Management
- Work closely with underwriting and technical teams to structure appropriate insurance solutions.
- Support the development and renewal of Oil & Gas insurance portfolios.
- Monitor portfolio performance and profitability.
- Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Market Intelligence & Industry Engagement
- Monitor industry trends, market developments, and competitor activities.
- Identify emerging risks and opportunities within the Oil & Gas sector.
- Represent the organisation at industry events, conferences, and networking forums.
- Provide market insights and strategic recommendations to management.
Team Leadership & Performance Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop team members to achieve business objectives.
- Monitor team performance against agreed targets and KPIs.
- Conduct coaching sessions and performance reviews.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare and submit periodic business performance reports.
- Track revenue, pipeline activities, renewals, and client retention metrics.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records of client engagements and business transactions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or HND in Insurance, Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Professional insurance qualification such as ACII, CIIN, or equivalent will be an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in insurance marketing, business development, or relationship management.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience managing Oil & Gas accounts or business portfolios.
- Proven track record of achieving sales and revenue targets.
